Good expectations and Michelin starred restaurants can be an explosive combination – and not always in good way. Such was the case with Tim’s Kitchen which offered much promise with its 2 star cooking but ended up being frustratingly underwhelming.

The flipside of finding interesting places to eat is that you can be in for quite an experience. This can end up being amazing or painful or a bit of both but it’s always memorable. Eating in the Lei Yue Mun area where you choose what seafood you want for your dinner in the wet market is definitely an experience.

Absolutely starving thanks to jet lag, I met up with Alice for some delicious ramen at Ippudo in Tsim Sha Tsui.

After an absence of two years it felt great stepping off the plane on a rather cool Thursday afternoon in Hong Kong with six nights ahead of me catching up with as many friends in as many restaurants as I could get to. To kick things off was dinner that very evening with Ada at King’s Dumpling.

On our final day in Lebanon, we went to the highly recommended Tawlet not just for lunch but also a lesson in cooking Lebanese cuisine with a local chef – part of my birthday present from IT Girl.
