Project LSq – Part 4

Having now made the move into my new place, I finally can sit down and get back to my blog once again. So here’s a quick post on how the apartment looked last week when my builder finished most of the work.

The kitchen was one of the final areas to be finished with the work top, sink, and taps being installed along with the tiling. IT Girl did the grouting and kudos to her for doing a fab job – she even impressed my builder! So with that all done the protective plastic could come off and then we could see what a massive improvement it is over the original. Exactly what the place needed and I’m looking forward to getting back into cooking and, in time, entertaining once again.

Finishing off the living area, my builder and I had a lot of fun installing my floating desk from BoConcept. Why do they make furniture so heavy??? Thankfully it only took two attempts to get it mounted properly on the wall and although it was rather expensive I like how it’s large enough for what I need but doesn’t feel that it’s too big for the space.

Looking down the length of the apartment, I’m glad that I had the floor tiling in the hallway removed so that the wood flooring just runs straight through. It makes the space feel more connected and larger. IT Girl and I weren’t too sure if this wood was going to work – originally we were going to go with a more conservative dark brown oak – but with the white / light colour scheme we both like the overall effect.

Finishing up with the bedroom, which is now much more brighter with the white paint scheme and the Roman instead of Venetian blinds. Just need my bed frame to arrive but until then got to have the mattress on the floor.

It’s taken about a month longer than expected (and cost more than I budgeted) but compared to how the place looked back in January I’m really glad (and relieved) that I’ve got to this point. Just got to wait for the custom interior doors to be delivered and installed and that will be it until next year when I might do it all again  with the bathroom, plumbing, and boiler. But for now, time to take a break and enjoy the new place with IT Girl.

Coming up next … saying farewell to the Greenwich apartment as I move in.
