Iceland – Part 5

Image above: The array of horses, not ponies as we were stricly told, that we would be riding. [Tuesday 01 June] | [View all photos]

On the final day in Iceland there was just enough time to go horse riding on an lava field.

With only the morning left before our afternoon flight, we decided to spend it riding Icelandic horses on a lava field to finish off our trip. Neither See Yun nor I had ever tried riding before so that was quite an experience. Unfortunately, trying to ride a horse and carry a DSLR camera don’t go well together so no photos from the ride itself. Only the rather jarring experience of being thrown about whenever my horse sped up to trotting!!!

Having survived the riding, we grabbed surprisingly good hotdogs at the airport before we were soon airborne and heading back to London even though it felt that we had only just arrived which is a sign of a pretty awesome trip.

Looking back over the trip, it was fantastic meeting fellow travellers, doing a driving holiday for a change, seeing the amazing landscapes and coastlines as we drove around, and eating that piece of ancient glacier. One of the best trips so far and my thanks to See Yun for being so patient with my photography and an excellent assistant too!
