Image above: Impressed with their take on falafel which tasted as good as it looked. [Sunday 13 June] | [View all images]
Taking a break from usual service to try somewhere different for Sunday lunch, I took Kay and Andrew to Yalla Yalla in Soho for Lebanese street food.
Tucked away down a tiny side street off Brewer Street, we walked in and discovered a very cosy interior with only eight tables as well as a whole array of food on the counter in front of us.
Doing our best not to get carried with ordering everything off the menu, we picked about eight dishes and were suitably impressed both by the intensely flavoursome soujoc (homemade spicy Lebanese sausages with tomato, parsley and lemon juice) as well as simplistic tastiness of the hommos shawarma (chickpea purée topped with marinated thin slices of lamb fillet). Even the staple dish of falafel was done superbly well and we were all suitably sated and satisfied.
So I’ll definitely be back and with the restaurant only 5 minutes away from my London office, it’s a good lunch option next time I’m working from there and a great alternative to the nearby Hummus Bros on Wardour Street.
