Krakow – Part 3

After the previous night’s celebrations, we spent our first day of 2010 going on a relaxing walk through the Podgorze and Kazimierz districts.

With a brief stop in Podgorze the previous day, we went past wonderfully Gothic St Joseph’s Church on our way to the park to check out Lasota Hill. There we had a lot of fun doing jumping shots in front of the Krakus Mound before See Yun and I tried to climb it.

Well, I tried to climb it and kept sliding down with zero traction on my worn-out boots – much the amusement of a passing family! – whilst See Yun actually managed to get to the top before “gracefully” descending. :P

We then walked through the bleaker side of Krakow as dusk fell over the remnants of the Ghetto Wall and Schindler’s Factory before jumping on a tram to the original Jewish district of Kazimierz to see this impressive photo exhibition at the Galicia Jewish Museum.

Completing our chilled out day, we dined on traditional Polish Jewish dishes at Ariel before popping in for dessert at the Camera Cafe back in the Old Town.

Coming up next … taking a Trabant tour through Stalinist Poland!
