Day 23 of my RTW trip saw our first full day in Siem Reap with our trusty guide, Sophea, taking us to Angkor Wat, Angkor ThomBayon, and Ta Prohm.

Of all three, whilst each had its charm and magnificence, my favourite was Ta Prohm which was overrun by gigantic trees. It was great fun clambering around exploring the place – especially with a torrential downpour that we experienced in the last half of our visit – and it had a great character about it. Surprising really as I had expected to be templed-out by then.

But that wasn’t all. After all the sightseeing, Ada and I went for our first quad biking experience through the villages and fields surrounding Siem Reap at dusk. I did the driving whilst Ada had the easy life on the back shooting this video of our ride.

After getting over the fear I was going to drive us straight into a paddy field it was an exhilarating experience though next time I’m putting my camera away. By the end of the drive it was literally dripping in mud … just glad that it’s weatherproof!

Coming up next, Day 24 where we explored Banteay Srei and Banteay Samre during the day, enjoyed our break in the hotel’s saltwater pool before watching sunset from the top of Pre Rup.
