RTW – Macau

Taking a quick break from my Japan trip to catch up with my back log of photos and here’s Day 21 of my RTW trip back in September ’09.

Thanks to Carmen, who organised this day trip with her friend Magdalen, I finally got to visit Macau after all my visits to Hong Kong – only a short hop away by hydrofoil.

Macau was a surreal place to visit. There were ridiculously  faux parts, especially The Venetian casino, which I was just bemused at. But the original neighbourhoods, like the warren-like streets surrounding St. Paul’s, were so much more fun to wander around and people watch.

And as for the food, we had superb noodles for lunch and enjoyed the rich and varied flavours of Macanese cuisine at dinner … all the while surrounded by piles of pork / beef / chicken bakkwa and other snacks as we walked around during the day. Totally spoiled!

Coming up next, the final part of my RTW trip travelling through Siem Reap and Phnom Penh with Ada for a week.

Travel Stats:

21 days travelled of 29
9 places visited in 6 countries in 3 continents
42.5 hours spent in 11 planes

@Sean: Yep … was so good that I was tempted to have a second portion!
