RTW – Singapore

After all the excitement in Perth, it was a refreshing break spending Day 17 to 19 visiting old university friends in Singapore.

I’ve not been back since 2006 and just as I did then, I stayed over with Siok Hua and her family this time too. Her Mum took me out to the same amazing noodle soup hawker stand for breakfast. It’s a lot of fun to chat with her since my Cantonese is so bad but somehow we manage to get by. And each time I always promise that I’ll improve for next time … which never quite happens!

Then the rest of Day 18 started which was delightfully manic bouncing from friend to friend catching up with Wei Wei, Shirley, Sarah, and Geak Yin before rounding the night off with supper with Siok Hua. It was so good catching up with everyone. Technology right now simply does not equate to being able to share a fabulous meal in front of someone. So it’s one of the many reasons why I love travelling.

Before leaving for Hong Kong on Day 19 Wei Ming and Katherine, whom I met at Justine’s wedding, took me out for breakfast at a nearby hawker centre which was very kind of them.

And so, after this very brief stopover, it was time to say goodbye to Siok Hua’s family and their utterly lovable dog. I really wanted to take him with me … but unfortunately quarantine is kinda restrictive so might have to get one of my own instead. :D

Next up … onto Hong Kong and catching up with my friends there.
