RTW – Perth – Part 1

Day 16 and a special occasion attending Justine’s perfectly formed wedding to Donald at the Sittella Winery in the Swan Valley.

After the briefing the previous night (not good when one is jetlagged!), the morning was spent rushing around getting everything set up before the ceremony began. Alas the weather wasn’t playing ball and after seeming to hold off it started to rain.

However, the weather couldn’t do anything to dampen down everyone’s excitement and thankfully it let up enough so that Justine could arrive in her dream red Mini Cooper car … with the top down. The ceremony was very romantic with Justine having a little cry in the midst of her vows followed by Donald shedding a tear or two. And when they finally tied the knot Justine’s victory dance was just adorable.

For their wedding guest album, Donald and Justine had this brilliant idea of giving everyone an A4 card where you had to draw your favourite Mr. (or Mrs.)  Men character, write your thoughts, and affix a Polaroid of yourself. I choose Mr. Skinny because Justine couldn’t believe how much I could eat and still not be fat and also because I am useless at drawing and it was an easy character to copy!!!

Lunch was fabulous and the series of best friends’ speeches, aided by good wine, was hilarious as each of the bridesmaids and groomsmen recounted their stories of the happy couple. And followed up, of course, by a boisterous yam-seng cheer from everyone there.

Leaving the bride and groom to mingle with the guests after dessert, the rest of the wedding party slipped out to do an impromptu photo shoot with Justine’s wedding car. Well, with all the fun that Justine and Donald were having it was only right that we should have our own fun too!

Then suddenly, as if no time had passed at all, it was time to pack everything away and head back home after a day of joy, laughter, and lots of good memories.
