After only seeing See Yun and Wendy the previous weekend, we had that much fun (plus we all wanted to see “Up” from Pixar) that we ended up meeting up again on the following weekend.
Following a tremendous brunch courtesy of Bela, I caught up with See Yun and Wendy in Chinatown to introduce another good friend of mine, Sylvia, to them. We ended up on the South Bank chatting away at the Swan Bar by the Globe Theatre. Walked past it so many times but it was the first time I went in and it was a surprisingly great little coffee / chill out place that wasn’t packed out by tourists. And it even had free wi-fi too!
Watching Up in 3D afterwards was quite an experience. I had imagined that it would be a fully immersive 3D experience but it seemed like it was 2D with some 3D elements. That said, it was still really impressive and as always Pixar outdid themselves in the story-telling. Some absolutely hilarious moments coupled with some poignant moments about making the most of now before you run out of time. Apparently it would take just under 13 million ballons to lift an average sized 1,600 sq foot house … who wants to try? :P
Afterwards, with the girls starving, we skipped seeing the Tate Modern and went to the ever-dependable Canteen for some filling British cuisine instead to finish off a really superb day.
