A fun Sunday spent catching up with a few Japanese friends for dim sum before entertaining and hosting Tomoko and Ami later on.
With Kaori craving dim sum I suggested to go somewhere different and eat at Yum Cha up in Camden Town instead of Chinatown. And with Tomoko in town from Brighton and Chitose visiting from Newcastle it turned out to be a good reunion as it’s been quite a few months since I saw each of them last.
I enjoyed eating here back in November 08 and it was still good as ever with Kaori happily sated. We accidentally ended up with a ton of food as we ordered for two friends who couldn’t make it in the end but, somehow, we actually did manage to finish it all. Yum!
For dinner Ami really wanted a proper Sunday roast and surprisingly finding my restaurant choice closed we amusingly ended up in Canteen. Same restaurant where I had dinner yesterday too though at their new Canary Wharf branch instead.
Service was excellent and the roast beef dinner we all had came quickly and was delicious. Got Ami to try out the local Meantime ales and so much fun getting Tomoko high on alcohol and dessert. :D And, to walk it all off, we took the Greenwich foot tunnel underneath the River Thames back to my place chatting away until it was time to crash out.
Waking the girls up early the next morning, it was good having an excuse to get up early and cook them a full breakfast complete with warm brioche bread from Paul before sending them off to explore Greenwich. Have always been tempted to get up earlier to do that for myself but love my sleep too much!
All in all, wonderful having Tomoko and her friend over just like we used to do last year.
