With Kay winning a Taste London card, it was the ideal opportunity to catch up again by trying out a new place for dinner.
So Winnie, Kay, Andrew and myself met up at the Coach & Horses – a little restored Victorian-era gastropub hidden away down a side street off Farringdon Road serving an eclectic collection of modern British cuisine using ingredients not commonly used. Such as the starter of partridge wellington (the puff pastry part) that I chose to go with which was actually juicily delicious. It did have puff pastry, which I love, so it couldn’t go too far wrong.

For main course, the chunk of pork belly with all that fat went down really well, despite the protestations of my arteries, and the pork loin itself was done well too.

But the highlight of the meal had to be the apple crumble. After having a chocolate truffle, both Kay and I relented and shared one after seeing how delicious Winnie’s one was. Not sure if it was the nuts or something else they added to the crumble but it just so … moreish. Yum!
And just as the food flowed so did the conversation and it was great seeing everyone again. Coupled with the 50% off food discount the bill only came to about £20 each (which even included a bottle of decent wine) it made for an even better evening. So if you’re in the mood for something a little different, do try out this place.
