Day five of the trip and am sitting on the beach outside my room having a chilled out afternoon before going to an island night this evening and then catching my 02:10 flight to New Zealand.
Being in the Cook Islands hasn’t quite gone as I had imagined with the weather and the rather peaceful pace of life here forcing me to slow down and take it easy. Managed to do some activities but it’s been pretty chilled out really falling asleep to the sound of the waves crashing on the reef, being amazed at the view of the Pacific from my room, and enjoying some sumptuous seafood.
One of the highlights was doing a day flight to the island of Aitutaki where I got to swim in its gorgeous azure blue lagoon, walk along the sandy beaches of various motu (mini-islands), have a delicious deepwater fish BBQ served as we cruised along, and make a few friends along in the process. So I’m very tempted to learn how to snorkel and scuba dive now … another expensive hobby to fund somehow!
My next stop is Wellington to visit Clara and Richard whom I’ve not seen since they emigrated there a few years ago. Looking forward to meeting their kids for the first time.
And keeping my travel ratio up to date before I fly out is: 3 places visited, 21.5 hours sitting in a plane, 2.5 movies watched, and 3 airline meals eaten. More to come once I get settled in Wellington …

the view from your hotel room looks blissful…hope you are having fund
fun* ;-)
@Penny: Yeah … though that was one of the rare moments of sunshine from that part of the trip. Most of the time it was wet, windy, and cold!
