Forty Hours in Four Weeks Later

Last Saturday, after a surprisingly quick four weeks of classes,  I finished both stages of my intensive Korean language class at SOAS.

We started with 12 in the class and by the end there were six of us left. Unsurprising really given the relentless pace with ten hours of class per week (Mon / Weds / Thurs / Sat) …  and that wasn’t including time for homework and revision! But, somehow, the six of us got to the end though whether we can recall any Korean is another question entirely!

To celebrate this occasion, Emily, Oliver, Yvonne, and I had dinner at a local Korean restaurant where we also got to meet Oliver’s girlfriend, Shona, who is from Korea and also Emily’s sister, Amanda, who used to work in Korea. So the conversation pretty much focused on one subject!

And completing the evening, I got introduced to a fabulous ice-cream palour in Covent Garden called Scoop Gelato which I’ll definitely have to revisit soon.

As for what next with Korean, the idea now is to consolidate everything that I’ve been taught so far. Although the course has been really intensive and took over my life, it has been an effective way to get me into learning the language. But now its good to go at my own pace and revisit the material to really understand everything and learn the vocabulary properly.

Term 3 is due to start at the end of September. Not signed up yet but if I do then there’s plenty of revision to do between now and then!
