Life never ceases to surprise me. Back in October 2008 when I was in Korea for the first time I met three Americans at Inwangsan and one of them just got back in touch with this photo she took of me as I was taking in the view and thinking about my future – i.e. now.
It’s a little ironic too looking at this photo of me that I wasn’t aware of. Reminded me of this guy that I photographed in Busan three weeks ago probably thinking the same kind of things that I was thinking on that rock seven months ago.
Makes me think how many photos I’ve been unintentionally captured in but will never know about and vice versa … how many people that I don’t which I’ve photographed and published on my website but they are entirely oblivious to it. Maybe when Google does decent facial pattern recognition we’ll discover all these other images of ourselves in a completely different light.
One of my favourite films from 10 years ago,”Shooting The Past” by Stephen Poliakoff, illustrates this in a moving story. You’ll have to watch it to see what I mean but it’s worth renting / buying.

Aww, cool. Glad the picture was a treasure for you. And I’m so glad to have met you!
Thanks April. Great to be back in touch and I hope that I’ll get to see you in London some day. ^^
