Tapas Fantasticas

Kicking off Saturday after a nice lie-in by checking out the Tapas Fantasticas festival off Brick Lane with Leanne and Eugene and happened to meet Winnie, Beatrix, Harel, Evonne, and Jamie whom I’ve not seen for a long time there too which was a happy coincidence.

Organised by Rioja region to showcase their wine it wasn’t surprising that the ratio of wine stalls to food stalls was like 3 to 2. That said, there were some excellent Spanish dishes on offer and I got to sample Dehesa which I’ve been meaning to try for awhile now. Though the best dish I tried was the pincho muruno from Moro so another one to add to the list.

Aside from unexpectedly running into Winnie, Beatrix, Harel, Evonne, and Jamie at the festival for an impromptu catch-up, just being in Brick Lane (which I hardly ever frequent) I randomly discovered:

  1. Where the newly renovated Whitechapel Gallery is with its highly recommended restaurant
  2. The numerous cafes with such a relaxed vibe to chill out in the northern end away from all the Indian restaurants
  3. A place that seems to do this deliciously crispy pizza which almost diverted me from tapas and now I need to go back to see if it’s tastes as good as it looks!
