Taste Of London & London’s Koreatown

Returning this year to the Taste of London food festival at Regent’s Park last Saturday, here’s the photo set of some of the truly delectable food that I enjoyed with Ivor, Ana Maria, See Yun, Shgufta, and Raza.

This was my second time to the festival with the last time being back in 2007 where I “discovered” Sumosan and had a fabulous meal there with Werda. So I was looking forward to sampling food from some of the other leading restaurants and it didn’t disappoint though four hours is seriously not enough time to really see everything the festival had to offer. In the end we only managed to hit about ten restaurants from the 36 available but we did discover some fantastic dishes.

And one highlight was watching the talented Jun Tanaka, of Saturday Kitchen and Pearl Restaurant fame, in action as he demonstrated three dishes from his new book – “Simple to Sensational“. And best of all, See Yun managed to meet him in person and was totally excited at getting a photo with her husband-to-be him.

So narrowing down all the food we sampled, my top three (in tasting order) were:

Doubtlessly I’ll be visiting each of these places in turn to burn through the credit limit on my AMEX. All I need to do now is to justify it somehow! I think that we’re still in a recession, right? :)

After Taste of London, there was more food to come courtesy of Yena and her sister, Dana, taking some of us out for an authentic Korea meal at Goong in New Malden – London’s Koreatown and home of the largest Korean expatriate population in Europe.

The food was great and we all had a superb time catching up over it before retiring to Han for a drink afterwards.

My thanks to Yena and Dana for organising and hopefully we’ll all be visiting New Malden more often for proper Korean food.
