Gourmet Weekend: Tapas Brindisa

Starting off what would eventually turn out to be a three-day gourmet food feast, was a dinner of scrumptious Spanish tapas at Tapas Brindisa in London Bridge with Yingshun.

With the restaurant operating a no reservation policy and only having 20 covers, you have three choices to eat here. Either get here as soon as the dinner service begins, or just before it closes, otherwise just wait for a very long time in between given its sheer popularity … it’s the same company that does those chorizo sausage burgers that have become so synonymous with Borough Food Market.

And just as with the burgers being ever so delicious, the same can be said with the quality of tapas on offer in their restaurant. So Shun and I had field day combining a good ol’ catch up with food to match. She even got me to try chicken liver and black rice for the first time through her tapas choices. Not really my kind of food but it was good to try if only once.

I think that my favourite was tied between the anchovies tapas [shown top] for its wickedly bad saltiness and the generous charcuterie selection [not shown] of Teruel Serrano ham, loin, chorizo and salchichón. All that cured meat. Yum!

And price-wise, the meal came to about £35 each which was pretty good for what we ate and how much was enjoyed it. And we could’ve easily carried on and eaten more … or is that just me talking? LOL. Anyway, it’s definitely recommended though only if you can avoid the dinner crowds and all … that … waiting … for … a … table. ^^
