On Sunday, I met up with Alice to take her to try brunch at The Providores which I discovered the last time I was in Marylebone with Lynn. Again, there was a queue stretching out of the door but it was worth the wait as the fusion food on offer was simply divine.
Alice went for the sweetcorn and blueberry fritters with avocado, tomato and rocket salad which she loved whilst I went for the grilled chorizo on on rosemary roasted potatoes with a soft boiled egg, sumac and saffron aioli – shown above. And yes, it does taste as delicious as it looks. A great blend of flavours and textures with just the right amount to feel sated without being bloated.
As for place itself, it was pretty small all in one room on the ground floor so we were a little crammed in but it just created a good buzz with the bubbling of lively conversations all around us. Definitely a fun atmosphere to be in and plus the food means that I’ll definitely be going back there again.

After a relaxing walk in Regent’s Park, we went to the South Bank to check out the Slow Food Market they had going for the weekend. It was pretty much the same as the Borough Food Market that I frequent from time to time but this one had this cool hog stall where they were spit-roasting whole pigs. By the time we got there one hog was already stripped to the bone!
So had a whole hog sandwich to myself which included some crunchy crackling and it was yum. I was expecting the pork to be a little dry but with the apple sauce it was really moist and I wolfed it down. Was sorely tempted to eat another one but instead shared a delicately sweet cinnamon pancake with Alice instead which was quickly followed up with those brownies from the Flour Power City Bakery.
All in all, a very good food day with great company as usual. And yes, I did end up taking a late afternoon nap!!!
