And Relax …

With the late cancellation of the Cut & Paste Milan event last weekend, I ended up scrambling to sort something else out only to realise that what I needed was to catch up on a lot of sleep, catch up with a few friends, enjoy a good swim, and generally just chill out on a weekend for a change.

And aside from all the sleeping-in there, I also got to finally catch up with Swee and we tried out Myung Ga – a Korean restaurant in Soho that I hadn’t got around to trying just yet.

On the upside, the service was really attentive and we even got to chat to the owner who had taken it over from her parents. On the downside, it wasn’t particularly good value for money. Firstly, none of the customary namul that you usually get and the kimchi was surprisingly bland. But what really amazed us was that they charged tea by the glass so we ended up spending over £10 on tea alone.

Urgh … so unfortunately not a place that I’m going back to or could recommend. But that aside, it was great catching with Swee properly since it had been quite a few months. How time flies.

On the Sunday with the DLR being completely shut down and replaced with a bus service I remembered that I could take the Thames Clipper service from Canary Wharf back to Greenwich. With the afternoon still being warm it was a decadent way to travel back home munching popcorn along the way as we zipped past the Isle of Dogs and also HMS Illustrious, one of two Invincible-class light aircraft carriers  on active duty.

She was moored there as part of the Royal Navy centenary celebrations in its historic home of Greenwich. So it was kinda cool looking up at her as we sailed past and just knowing that there was a combat ship just parked near my apartment!
