River Thames & Blackheath Fireworks

To complete the series of firework displays that I’ve been capturing for the last week, I had planning on just going to see just the Blackheath display. However, it worked out with the Lord Mayor’s display being on quite early at 17:00 so I got to see both back to back. Hurrah!

The image above is a preview (click to view it larger) from the Lord Mayor’s display, which traditionally follows the annual Lord Mayor’s Parade each November, that I went to see with Minkyeng, Jung-Su, and his friend, Yeji. It was good viewing it from the South Bank rather than from Blackfriars, on the north side of the view, as I usually do but the display was surprisingly short to everyone’s dismay.

Then dashed off to meet up with Chrissy to travel down to watch the Blackheath display. First time there for the both of us and they had this hilarious announcment: “the fireworks display is aerial” – just in case you weren’t sure.  Got me thinking … so if it’s not aerial then where does it go???

That aside, it was a spectacular show – a preview is below. Even better as the strong winds just blew the fireworks across the sky and that just added to the visual spectacle. So it was somewhat fitting that my new local display was the best of the five for entertainment value.
